Once again a warm welcome from all of us at Lasswade AC.

We hope you're here because of your interest in the club and especially in this, the 30th Open Annual Cross Country meeting. Those of you who managed along last year may recall the contrast with 2009's biblical rainfall and we are hoping that 2011 conditions make for a great test and a comfortable watch.

As a club we will be hoping to put on a good show once again so that everyone can have a great time in that sunny and friendly place that is Midlothian. If you have a look around the blog you should find plenty of info to help you. Please feel free to have a look at previous events via both photos and results.

I must apologise, again, to Bill Lumsden of Aairecool Technical Services of Penicuik who is a valued and long term supporter of the club and Sponsor of this event. If I dont get a mention for Aairecool into the leaflet next year I will donate a days graft to a charity of his choosing!!

Come back often, in case something has changed,but in the meantime we especially look forward to seeing you on Sunday 6th November.

Well done to all the competitors, officials, helpers, volunteers. Also a special thank you to sponsors and Midlothian District Council for their ongoing support. It all added to what we hope was an excellent day!

Here are some pics from last Sunday and you will see that the weather was lovely, as arranged. The course and scenery look great despite the settings on my camera being totally wrong....the blue tinge was totally unintentional. Honest. A special thanks to Colin Cassidy of Basically Tool Hire for his kindness in loaning us his fabulous equipment (not to mention the pick up and trailer).

I had hoped to have some photos of the day available by now but my camera phone gave up the ghost towards the end. I hope to be able to get them off the memory card somehow. If you have any good pictures please feel free to send them via the email address below and I will try to make them available. It was certainly a memorable day for all involved!

At last the day has arrived! We would like to wish all the athletes an enjoyable and challenging race. We hope the wind and the weather is on your back all day long. Thanks also to all the people, too many to mention, who have made the race day a reality. A special thank you to all the sponsors and friends who have committed cash or resources during these trying financial times.

PS On my trawl through the Internet I have noticed numerous comments about the course being really good, the race being well organised and the entry cost cheap. Thanks for the advice! I will be talking with next years organisers to resolve the last point!!!

On a serious note the event is an important fund raiser for the work of the club and we are really grateful to all who have contributed in one way, shape or form. Thank you.

We would love to hear from potential sponsors who want to add something positive to the local community and especially the hundreds of young people who train hard for life and sport at Lasswade Athletics Club. The club is run by volunteers and this event is an important fundraiser to support the club's activities throughout the year. You can have a bit of exposure in our advertising, present the trophies for "Your" race and we might even stretch to a cup of tea and a burger ably provided by Newtongrange Gala Day committee!
